Fireplaces aren't just for looks in CA

We have had really nice and crazy weather this winter from the 90's to the low 40's. What to wear is the question?? I am always wearing shorts even if I have my Ugg boots on. People think that I am crazy but who really cares as long as I am comfortable...right! Every night this past week we have had a fire in the fireplace ... makes me feel like I'm back east ... without the snow. My cousin Nancy can fill me in on the snow adventures so I can live my snow fun through her. Bundled little Blaise up to go for a walk around the block in his red wagon ... all set with milk, pretzels, blankets and his best bear friend "Cutie Pie". Nice way to catch the sunset. Another fire tonight I'm sure, supposed to be cold ... for CA

I was starting to feel badly for my poor, freezing cousin, Mo, out in California. I mean, there was the photographic evidence of poor little Blaise all bundled up against the elements, and the fire blazing the background. Then, I read your commentary about shorts and ugg boots. Shorts!!! And the further photographic evidence of Phillip in the polo SHORT-SLEEVE shirt did not further my sympathy for you. I am convinced, now more than ever that this is the time to become a "California Bakey!"

A totally unrelated cute kid story...
I am on vacation this week and Lauren and I took Allie and Caroline to Target and the now-going-out-of-business Toys R Us. Upon entering into Toys R Us, which is all completely in a state of disarray and destruction because of the incredibly low sales prices and frantic parents trying to take advantage, Allie found a toy microphone. She was delighted with her discovery and continued to walk around the entire store with it making "announcements." At one point, I took it from her and announced, "Ladies and Gentlemen. Welcome to the Toy store." She didn't really react to this, but just took her microphone back. Later in the car, with her new spoils, with which Auntie awarded her, she begain tapping the microphone as if to test whether it was working. Then she announced, in a very stately and ceremonious voice, "Ladies and Gentlemen...Welcome to the Toooooooooy Store." It was really funny and Lauren and I were tickled!
